A word from the travellers to Crete

“Having already been completely amazed by Apostolos’ tour of Epirus, I was eagerly looking forward to our tour of Crete. Apostolos wowed us once again with spectacular scenery, fascinating historical sites, and delicious food all along the way. Touring the palace of Knossos, seeing the caves of Matala, walking the beach where “Zorba the Greek” was filmed, a boat trip and swimming on the northwest corner of the island, and a stay in a remote mountain retreat were just some of the highlights. We were treated to stories from our guide who grew up in a small village as well as amazing meals in local tavernas. Thanks to Apostolos for a wonderful adventure.”
“The Wonders of Crete trip was outstanding. Apostolos is a wonderful host and is so obviously passionate about his work. Ten of the 12 people on our trip had traveled with him one or two times before, including me.
e traveled all over Crete and had experiences in the mountains, on the coastline, in villages and in cities. The museums were outstanding, especially the museum depicting the Minoan civilization. We got to tour several archeological sites as well. We learned about the Greek, Roman, and Venetian occupations of the island, as well as the more recent Ottoman and Nazi occupations.
The local guides were very knowledgeable and a real asset to our group. One of our tour members had a family emergency and had to leave the tour. Apostolos facilitated this for her and made the return journey much easier. He is such a hard working person.
The food was outstanding and we were offered a great variety of local dishes. His tours seem to attract congenial and interesting people, and it was fun to get to know all of them.
Thank you, Apostolos for a wonderful and educational trip.”
“We were privileged to accompany Apostolos on his tour of the Greek island of Crete. It was another unique experience traveling with Apostolos. We had a local guide for eastern Crete as a traveling companion for 5 days and a different local guide for western Crete for 4 days. They ate with us and stayed in the same hotels giving us their expertise and experience growing up and working in Crete. Thoroughly enjoyable and we learned a lot from our van driver as well. There was just the right mix of museums, archeological sites and churches. We were immersed in the olive oil and wine production in Crete. The food in Crete is incredible and so varied, from the seafood in a coastal fishing village to the delicious delicacies in a mountain village (be sure and try Rakki, the national drink of Crete). Every day was an unexpected treat with stunning mountain vistas and seaside panoramas. As Crete is an island, we were overwhelmed with the views from cliff sides where we could see the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who craves out of the ordinary.”
